‘Holy, Holier, Holiest’: The Sacred Topography of the Early Medieval Church $127.4 This book explores the morphology of early medieval Irish religious settlement. It seeks to shift the focus of academic interest away from simply the materiality of settlement towards a greater concern for its possible theological significance. The critical literature is reviewed and the archaeological and literary evidence revisited in search of evidence for a consistent early medieval Irish schema for the layout of religious settlement. This study suggests that the enclosure and zoning of religious space was primarily inspired by depictions of the Jerusalem Temple through the medium of a universally received scriptural ‘canon of planning’. The distinctive early Irish religious landscape is a result of the convergence of this Christian exemplar of ordered holy space with vernacular building forms. These building forms were shaped by the legacy of Ireland’s recent pagan past, whose architectural leitmotif was the circular or sub-circular form, in contrast to the buildings described in Christian texts. Some of the traditional assumptions about the possible heterodox nature of the ecclesiology of the early medieval Irish church are also challenged. Irish religious topography is set within the context of a universal Christian understanding of holy space which impacts upon the topography of religious settlement not just in Ireland but further afield in Anglo-Saxon England, Gaul and the Middle East. In this the book, like many other recent studies, challenges the presumption that there was a ‘Celtic church’ distinctive in its practices from the wider church, while documenting the local contribution to Christian architecture. |

the customer thinks it's a fantastic book that you can not imagine – Isabelle Renoir! I have never read a novel written with passion! Wind Dancer is a book character glaring pages and reach depths of his heart and mind! Isabelle Renoir is a worshiper wild and rugged front God, that desire my own faith dance before the Lord in the light of the moon! I held my breath with Samuel Holt, groping through the woods stalking his prey! In fact, Jamie Carie created a novel strong characters and dynamic feel each of their joy, their pain overwhelming his praise! Located in the middle of the border Wild American Wind Dancer was my introduction to the work of Jamie Carie. I'm still in shock from the pure satisfaction of this novel! She introduced before the American Revolution War and its borders extended to life vividly and completely. I was carried in all senses! Jamie took my heart and spirit of fierce patriotism of Americans new barbarism wild Shawnee seamless ease! I still shudder at the memory the attack on the house of the border and the operation of the glove! The real joy for me was this wonderful, vibrant, true faith of the characters – in especially hope and Isabelle – so gloriously and naturally woven throughout the story. Indeed, God is that I am for all of us today same as was in the hearts of those who forged our country many years ago! And the romance! Dear reader, there are scenes in this book that will take your breath breath! Wind Dancer encapsulated best of all, this book should be! Jamie Carie, Wind Dancer is a jewel in its crown! Look forward to their stories and really recommend as long as God gives the words to write! Wind Dancer reflects the deep love you have for the giver of all stories, and reflects the love a drop!
