Promoting the use of South Indian Christian music for faith formation among Indian Christians. $49.99 The culture of India, one of the richest civilizations in the world, possesses an extensive system of music that is spiritual in its origin, development, and preservation. However, it is observed that Christians in India have not adequately explored this noble and powerful art for their faith development. Limited understanding of Indian music, its association with Hindu religion, Syrian and Western influences that caused the Syro-Malabar Church its identity crisis, and disagreements among the local bishops regarding the direction to be taken for the liturgical renewal are the main reasons why the members of the Syro-Malabar Church have failed to adapt Indian music more effectively for their faith development. This project was aimed at providing the necessary musical, historical, liturgical, and theological awareness as well as providing an opportunity to experience the sacredness of Indian music to help the participants in their faith development. The approach to this project was both theoretical and practical. The theoretical part researched the spiritual nature of Indian music, music in the Latin and in the Syro-Malabar Church, and a theology of music. Chapter one dealt with the spiritual nature of Indian music by examining the cultural heritage of India, the treasure of Vedic literature, different musical forms in the academy, and the nature of the raga system used in the South Indian music. The second chapter dealt with a brief history of the musical tradition in the Latin Church and an analysis of the 20th century papal legislation. The third chapter examined specifically the musical tradition of the Syro-Malabar Church in the past and in the present. The fourth chapter articulated a theology of music. Music as an art of God reveals the greatest artist, God, and can be a way to approach Him. The practical section of this project consisted in communicating the results of the research to the participants in two groups, providing an opportunity to experience the |

The Disappearing Poet Blues $19.36 The poems in Marc Hudson’s The Disappearing Poet Blues are driven by a moral anguish: how do we live, they ask, in strict circumstances; what is the worth of a profoundly limited human life; how can one be both a good father and a good artist? Emblematic of the poet’s exile and endurance are the severe landscapes of the Okanogan in Washington State and the Colville Indian Reservation, where Hudsons brain-injured son, Ian, was born and lived his first year. Later poems reflect the familys move to Indiana, where the less austere contours of the Midwest suggest a mellowing of grief. The poems of the second section metaphorically wrestle with many of the same concerns: Caedmon, the first Anglo-Saxon Christian poet, tells of the burdens of song; an Irish monk on his volcanic outpost longs for his homecoming in Christ. Hudson’s The Disappearing Poet Blues has an ethical music and weight; but ragged and uncertain and human as it is, it also sings the blues. |

Is it not ridiculous to happen?
The last day of the press has reported that director shooting a film comedy been imagined a scene of music, comedy, for which he has erected a statue of Charlie Chaplin, who is certainly the biggest name in comedy. some people suddenly stop shooting and asked them to use the image of Swami Vivekananda, citing that Charlie Chaplin is a Christian and not not an Indian. Horrible! I think this is the worst insult to Swami Vivekananda. Was an actor? I read the biography of him and has never been nowhere mentioned that he was an actor. If there was a comedian, what is the logic of having his statue in the middle of a musical sequence comedy? The film is a bomb at the box office. You INTOLERANCE community in India started to ruin even the world of artists? Is this all that is in India made in India? indigenous culture, which until 15 years ago was considered one of the most tolerant in the world is fast, stooping for the level of Islamic fundamentalists.
It is sad that politicians have become illiterate and stupid to teach riots and arrogance the name of religion, gender and caste make money. with the attitude of some people is not a note of any community or nation. There few steps and a significant handful of these arrogant and ignorant thugs here to spoil the culture and society. but this is not the true face of society.
