One Nation Under God $11.47 It’s a familiar story. Boy meets boy. Boy and boy start an organization to help gays “convert” to straightdom. Boy realizes he’s in love with boy, and they leave their group to become outspoken denouncers of the movement. Okay, so maybe it’s not that familiar. Regardless, One Nation Under God is an insightful peek into the world of “ex-gays.” Gary and Michael were two founders of Exodus, a mi… |

Straight and Narrow?: Compassion and Clarity in the Homosexuality Debate $16 “Can Christians believe that homosexual behavior is wrong without being narrow-minded and homophobic? It’s a volatile question these days. Critically acclaimed as “one of the best books on homosexuality and Christianity available”, Schmidt’s book is both painstakingly documented and sensitively written.>Compassionate but bold, the author defuses one gay-rights argument after another and shows that no matter what one professes to believe about the origins or meanings of homosexuality — no matter what the circumstances — the biblical position is irrefutably clear: it is not a part of God’s plan for men or women.” |

A Serious Way of Wondering: The Ethics of Jesus Imagined $0.99 When renowned novelist and poet Reynolds Price, one of Christianity’s most eloquent outlaws, was invited to deliver the annual Peabody Lecture at Harvard University Memorial Church in 2001, he chose to explore a subject of fierce debate and timeless relevance: the ethics of Jesus. In two succeeding lectures at the National Cathedral and at Auburn Seminary, Price continued to explore the apparently contradictory ethics that Jesus articulates in the Gospels; and in a controversial act of artistic license, Price reimagined the historical Jesus. In A Serious Way of Wondering, Price expands these lectures to present Jesus with three problems of burning moral concern — suicide, homosexuality, and the plight of women in male-dominated cultures and faiths. A sweeping view of the inescapable implications of Jesus’ merciful life and all-embracing thought — and of the benefits of enlarging our notions of humanity, community, and equality — A Serious Way of Wondering is a significant contribution to Price’s penetrating works of religious inquiry. |

An Answered Prayer: God’s Love is Astounding $18.33 What if God got tired waiting for the world to become more loving? What if God saw little hope of traditional Christianity, the Bible, or any existing religion or philosophy managing to make the world adequately loving? What if God decided to say something more about love and to put it into contemporary language? How would God proceed? What would God say?It seems likely that God would speak to persons in prayer, intending for one or more of them to convey the message to others. It is a time-honored practice fraught with challenges, errors, and limitations. To believe that it can happen is to believe that God exists, that God cares about human beings, and that God answers prayer, all basic tenets of Christianity. It would be helpful to believe that God was not and could not have been captured for all time in the words of the past nor even in the words of the present. God answered the author’s prayer and, in a startling message, emphasized the preeminence of love and expressed love’s radical nature. God insisted on equality of worth of men and women, validated sexuality, spoke to love-centered Christians about making churches more loving, redefined issues of wealth and power, warned of abuse by organizations, and supported, welcomed, and accepted homosexuals and bisexuals without insisting upon change or chastity. Believers in exile; those frustrated or disappointed in the church; those who never found a religion or a church worth their time; those who value heterosexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality; those who trust in science; those who never found a model or message of God worth commitment; and those who are committed to love – all those will appreciate God’s message. What if human life could be improved by love? Would the message not be worth attention? |

And With All Your Mind: A Novel About Evangelical Theology $9.99 It’s 1971, and Silas Baker is a high school senior in California, whose main interests are basketball, and weekend parties. But his life takes a dramatic turn, when he encounters a group of committed Christians, who soberly inform him that “Jesus is coming soon!” They enroll at Riverstent Bible College. It’s an exciting time, as leading Bible teachers have predicted that Jesus will return to Rapture his Church within “one generation” of the 1948 formation of the State of Israel. Popular movies further inflame this passion, as the eager students study Apologetics and Biblical Archaeology; aberrant theologies such as the “Death-of-God” movement; and even conflicting interpretations of the End Times. An activist spirit develops within evangelicalism, culminating in the so-called “Christian Right,” as the evangelical world is rocked in the aftermath of the televangelist scandals. Confronted by world views such as Calvinism and Christian Reconstruction, the characters passionately debate controversies such as Biblical Inerrancy and the age of the cosmos, in addition to challenging evangelicals who deny traditional doctrines such as that of “endless punishment” in Hell, or who promote an “Open” (yet limited) concept of God himself. As society evolves, so does evangelicalism: “seeker sensitive” megachurches appear, while Postmodernism and the “Emergent Church” become realities. Theologians wrestle with the question of divorce and remarriage, and the role of women in the church, as well as the divisive issue of homosexuality. As they struggle with life’s realities, they ultimately must also respond to nonchristians who are alienated, indifferent, or engaged in active opposition to Christianity, while searching for the meaning of Christian faith in the modern world. |

Before the Closet: Same-Sex Love from Beowulf to Angels in America $2.41 Since the publication of John Boswell’s Christianity, Social Tolerance, and Homosexuality, historians have accepted the view that the early Middle Ages tolerated and even fostered same-sex relations and that intolerance of homosexuality developed only late in the medieval period. In this extraordinary study, Allen J. Frantzen challenges this long-held belief, showing that early medieval Christians did not tolerate same-sex acts, and, furthermore, that men and women during this time who preferred homosexual relations pursued their desires in spite of official sanctions. The early medieval period was, Frantzen argues, an age before people recognized the existence–or the possibility–of the “closet.” With its ambitious scope and elegant style, Before the Closet focuses on Anglo-Saxon literature but also includes thoughtful examinations of contemporary opera, dance, and theatre. Instead of the closet, Frantzen employs the figure of the shadow to illustrate the coexistence of homosexual and heterosexual relations in the Middle Ages. He introduces this figure through an analysis of a man’s part sung by a woman in operas such as Gounod’s Faust and Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier. He traces the reverse figure-men taking women’s parts-in two dances by Mark Morris, The Hard Nut and Dido and Aeneas, and analyzes the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant in Tony Kushner’s play Angels in America. Frantzen’s wide-ranging study also includes such well-known poems as Beowulf and The Wanderer. Erudite and provocative, this book offers a comprehensive analysis of sources from the seventh to the twelfth century and traces Anglo-Saxon same-sex behavior through the age of Chaucer and into the Renaissance. |

Christian Right or Wrong: Exposing the Corrupt Teachings of Corporate Christianity and Its Leading Media Evangelists $18.15 The Christian Right … or Wrong? examines public messages delivered by Christian leaders–messages that reach millions of people worldwide every week.John Cord lays bare the false teachings of forty Christian leaders on such controversial topics as abortion, homosexuality, tithing, salvation, idolatry, and religious terrorism. These influential leaders, mostly American televangelists, include Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Billy Graham, Robert Schuller, and Jimmy Swaggart. Cord studied over 700 hours of television ministries and talk shows, and provides verbatim excerpts of false religion, featuring interview segments conducted by Bill O’Reilly, Larry King, Geraldo Rivera, and Hannity & Colmes. The Christian Right … or Wrong? presents a robust sampling of the selfishness at the heart of corporate Christianity, whose age-old, “traditional” lies about God’s Message shall, per Christ, be taught to the end. Endorsements “Your ability to first dissect Scripture with explanations and correlations, and then analyze arguments of notable religious figures is excellent.” Ryan U., Palm Springs, CA “Every page you write strengthens what I have always known about love and goodness and my resolve to live that way. God could have only selected a very, very special soul as a conduit to share this message. You have no idea how much you have revived my Spirit.” Karen S., Coon Rapids, MN “I must admit that from my study of religion and specifically the Bible, I never drew the logical conclusion or reached the simplicity of understanding that you seem to have.” Steve D., Bagdad, KY “I heard you on Orlando’s 740 AM this evening on my way to the Central Florida Down Syndrome Association meeting. The important thing is that I think I finally heard someone able to put into the English language what has been gnawing me about organized religion since I was eight years old. That’s a long time. I’m over 50.” Patricia W., Orlando, FL INTRODUCTION ENLIGHTENMENTS Chapter 1. SALVATION Chapter |

Homosexuality Christianity

What are your views on homosexuality and Christianity?
Hate the sin, love the sinner. In Genesis 19:1-29 cities Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because people were so bad. The men of the city wanted to have sex with other men. So God's perspective on the city was destroyed by a rain of fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah. Leviticus 18:22 (speaking to men in Israel) "Do not have sex with a man as one does with a woman is an abomination." Leviticus 20:13 "If a man has sex with a male as with a woman, both have done what is detestable. They should be sentenced to death, his blood shall be upon their heads. "Romans 1:26-27" Therefore, God gave them over to shameful passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for the artificial. Similarly men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with desire each other. Men committed indecent acts with other men and receiving in themselves the wages deserved their error. "1 Corinthians 6:9" Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom God? Do not be deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals offenders … inhereit the kingdom is God. '1 Corinthians 6:13 "The body is not for fornication, but for the Lord and the Lord for the body." 1 Timothy 1:8-10 "We know that the law is good if used properly. We also know that the law is not made for the righteous, but for criminals and rebels, the ungodly and sinners, the profane non-religious and, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, fornicators for, for those who practice homosexuality, for merchants slaves and liars and perjury.
