Beyond The Closet: Healing The Rift Between Gay People And The Church $12.41 Beyond the Closet: HEALING THE RIFT between Gay People and the Church offers Biblical principles for resolving the current crisis around gay people in the church. This upheaval peaked in 2004 when the Episcopal Church installed its first openly gay bishop, and the Southern Baptist Convention severed ties to churches allegedly supporting homosexuals, and their right to marry. But the church faces an even greater conflict. Its gravest threat is from those within it whose all-consuming self-interests oppose Jesus’ precepts on obedience, holiness, and faithfulness. Lessons in humility, suffering, and chastity, and the Bible’s supremacy in daily life, are being challenged as never before by adherents who refuse to be governed by the revealed Will of God. It has thus become extremely difficult to heal the rifts which divide in a manner both pleasing to God, and honorable to themselves. Infighting often prevents compromise, and intolerance too frequently overwhelms spirituality. To reaffirm Biblical themes relating to reconciliation, the book defines some 300 words on vital issues ranging from what true Christianity means, to love, sex, and marriage. The church is in real trouble, and urgently needs the cleansing power of repentance. For when it questions and undermines the Bible’s legitimacy by choosing false doctrine over truth, God’s profound judgments against apostasy cannot be far away! |

Christian Libertarians: Gene Robinson, Libertarian Christianity, Isabel Paterson, Peter Elliott, Jeffrey John, Nancy Wilson, Kate Clinton $11.74 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Chapters: Gene Robinson, Libertarian Christianity, Isabel Paterson, Peter Elliott, Jeffrey John, Nancy Wilson, Kate Clinton, Ralph Blair, Elizabeth Stroud, Mary Elizabeth Clark, Davis Mac-Iyalla, Elizabeth Stuart, Karin Wolff. Excerpt: Davis Mac-Iyalla (b. 1972 in Port Harcourt ) is a Nigerian LGBT rights activist . He established the Nigerian wing of the British Changing Attitude organization, which presses for internal reform of the Anglican Communion for further inclusion of Anglican sexual minorities. He came out to himself at the age of 14, but his disinterest in dating females was not made apparent to others around him until after two events: the ordination of Gene Robinson as the bishop of New Hampshire in the Episcopalian branch, and the death of his mentor, the Bishop Iyobee Ugede of Otukpo . He was, in July 2003, fired from his job as the principal of a local Anglican children’s school; after this incident, which he believed was due to his being gay, he became an activist and started work with Changing Attitude. He has faced stiff opposition from both the religious elite and their lay constituents in Nigeria, which is a heavily conservative nation in terms of politics. The church of Nigeria has issued a disclaimer against Mac-Iyalla on their website . However, Mac-Iyalla has met with the primate of the Nigerian Church, Peter Akinola , who is most well known for leading an internal faction of the worldwide communion against welcoming actions towards LGBT Anglicans by the British Anglican and U.S. Episcopal churches. Mac-Iyalla has ventured to other countries with Anglican communities on speaking tours . He has been granted refugee status in the United Kingdom, where he now lives. He has been accused by Nigerian Anglicans as a charlatan who made up his life story, |

Christianity and Sexuality in the Early Modern World $154.75 Christianity and Sexuality in the Early Modern World surveys the ways in which Christian ideas and institutions shaped sexual norms and conduct from the time of Luther and Columbus to that of Thomas Jefferson. The volume explores such topics as marriage and divorce, fornication and illegitimacy, clerical sexuality, witchcraft and love magic, homosexuality, and moral crimes. The group positions itself as “conservative” and defines itself as the vanguard of upholding traditional values against the “trends of radical libertarianism, feminism and extreme individualism” in modern society. The society has opined on social problems concerning sex in recent years. For instance, it was quoted out of context in one newspaper that one of its founders believes that it is immoral for women to wear bikinis; and it was Choi Chi-Sum believed masturbation was immoral regardless of marital status as admitted in an interview. Gay rights groups and promoters of sex workers’ rights associate that the group with Christian Rightists in United States. Robinson was elected bishop in 2003 and entered office in March 2004. Before becoming bishop, he served as assistant to the retiring New Hampshire bishop. Robinson is widely known for being the first openly gay, non-celibate priest to be ordained a bishop in a major Christian denomination believing in the historic episcopate. His sexual orientation was privately acknowledged in the 1970s, when he studied in seminary, was ordained, married, and started a family. Coming Out in Christianity $22.95 For many Christians, homosexuality is an issue. It is oftenconsidered a matter of us versus them, or worse, for gay menand women, a question of their behavior, not something intrinsic to their identity.Coming Out in Christianity examines this conflict from the point of view of a groupof lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Christians. Conceiving Peace and Violence: A New Testament Legacy $46.24 In this book, Philip Tite explores the role of biblical texts in the promotion of peace and violence. He begins by exploring the function of religious texts as ideological elements, recognizing that the New Testament affects the social construction of _realities_ or cultures within which people read and apply authoritative writings to ethical discussions. Arguing that an _engaged reading _ of these texts is central within moral discourse, Dr. Tite explores such issues as feminist challenges to biblical ethics, Jewish-Christian relations, and gay and lesbian ethical disputes in Christianity. |

Globalizing Family Values $18.07 With little fanfare and profound effect, family values have gone global, and the influence of the Christian Right is increasingly felt internationally. This is the first comprehensive study of the Christian Right’s global reach and its impact on international law and politics. Doris Buss and Didi Herman explore tensions, contradictions, victories, and defeats for the Christian Right’s global project, particularly in the United Nations. The authors consult Christian Right materials, from pamphlets to novels; conduct interviews with people in the movement; and provide a firsthand account of the World Congress of Families II in 1999, a key event in formulating Christian Right global policy and strategy. The result is a detailed look at a new global player–its campaigns against women’s rights, population policy, and gay and lesbian rights; its efforts to build an alliance of orthodox faiths with non-Christians; and the tensions and strains as it seeks to negotiate a role for conservative Christianity in a changing global order. |

God Bothering $14 Warfare with Satan, mumbling in tongues, rapturous encounters with the Holy Spirit, healing prayer – the Alpha Course devotes entire evenings to each of these. It is also the most popular introductory Christianity course in Britain, offered globally by thousands of churches across numerous denominations. In spite of the narrow, extreme views that it promotes, Alpha carries a stamp of approval from the Church of England and a reputation for open, evidence-based discussion. We took up Alpha’s offer to explore the meaning of life. Over ten spiritually taxing weeks we listened to the talks, participated in the discussions, and attempted to understand how hardline, fundamentalist dogma has been sold so successfully as mainstream Christianity founded on rational examination of evidence. This book describes what we saw: the centrally planned discussion groups, the evasive responses, the misleading portrayal of evidence, the terrible jokes – all absent from the expensive advertising campaign. In Alpha the usual Evangelical rules apply: yes, they believe in casting out demons and discriminating against gay people, and no, they can’t ultimately tell you why, but what does that matter when Jesus loves you? |

Hate is the Sin: Putting Faces on the Debate over Human Sexuality $37.95 Arguments based in doctrine and scripture over the inclusion of homosexual people within Christian congregations and sacraments have done little to persuade the faithful on either side of this debate. Hate is the Sin: Putting Faces on the Debate over Human Sexuality approaches this divisive subject through portraits of the faith of gay and lesbian persons, presents both sides of the controversy, revealing how preformed opinions shape widely divergent interpretations of biblical and theological issues. Included are the true stories of Mary Albing, serving as a pastor while in a lesbian relationship; Jay Wiesner, whose congregation defied the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America by ordaining and installing him in an Extraordinary Candidacy Project ceremony; David Glesne, who sought to heal relationships with gays and lesbians and yet deny them ordination and cohabitation; and other accounts of the ways that many congregations have struggled to welcome homosexual people and to realize the Christian message within their own churches. Hate is the Sin: Putting Faces on the Debate over Human Sexuality is an insightful and detailed account of this contemporary debate and required reading for any person hoping to understand Christianity and the spiritual lives of contemporary Christian people. |

Gay Christianity

Why gay peolpe believe in Christianity?
Why gays believe in Christianity, although some followers believe being gay is a sin and you will burn in hell? Why believe in something that some say that you hate? ps I am in favor of gay I know how some Christians hate gays
Well, most people (including myself) can believe and practice a religion without following all the rules "but who practice a religion, and gays, and be gay is a sin … means nothing. Ex: I am a Catholic, to follow every rule "I want to be a saint. And this is not the case! But I still church every Sunday, I pray you, and all these things Catholic, and sin. But I do not think I'm going to hell.
gay-Christianity is impossible.
