21 Bridges to the 21st Century: The Future of Pastoral Ministry $0.99 The past five decades have altered the role of the churches. The third millennium will bring an even more radically different context for ministry. How the parish minister meets the challenge of that change is the subject of this latest book by best-selling author Lyle E. Schaller. Schaller makes the statistics speak by discussing four dozen factors that will provide challenges and opportunities in the next millennium. These include the emergence of thousands of new independent congregations, economic factors that affect rural congregations, the inability of most churches to be truly inclusive, the fact that the church has replaced the home and school as the primary channel for learning values, the growth of the Christian day school, the almost total disappearance of the geographical parish, the increasing competition for communication, the change in women’s role in the community. “Change is the dominant theme of this book. The response of church leaders to the changes identified here will shape the future of their institutions. More important, however, these responses will determine who will be most effective in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in the early decades of the millennium”. |

A Place Of My Own $11.04 Ella is woman who has known more than her share of heartaches, rejections and disappointments. Growing up as the great-granddaughter of sharecroppers in Mississippi, she was used to moving. But abandonment and eviction by family members-that was something else. For many years, she searched for a place to finally put down roots-”where nobody could put me out.” This is an account of that journey.Jean Robertson is an aspiring writer who has written over twenty articles for The Gospel Journal, a local Bay Area Christian newspaper. She is also the writer and editor of her church newsletter, NRS Views and News. Currently serving as the Ministry leader for Women of Purpose, the women’s ministry at her church, she resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with her husband. |

A Short History of Women S Rights $17.14 A Short History of Women”s Rights: From the Days of Augustus to the Present Time. with Special Reference to England and the United States is one of the first complete histories of women”s rights. The history begins with rights of women under Roman law and the early Christian church. Then the rights of women as modified by Christian emperors are discussed. Chapter 4 covers women and Germanic people. This is followed by Canon law and the attitude of the Roman Catholic Church. Women”s rights in England and the United States are then covered. |
|
|
A Short History of Women’s Rights $10.88 Perhaps a word on the status of women in slavery among the Germanic nations will not be out of place. The new nations looked upon a slave as chattel, much as the Romans did. If a wrong was done a slave woman, her master received a recompense from the aggressor, but she did not, for to hold property was denied her.-from “Women among Germanic Peoples” The fight for women’s rights-particularly with regards to the right to vote-made such enormous strides between 1910, when the first edition of the book was published, and 1914, when its second edition was released with an update on the effort, that within the space of those few brief years, it became almost a historical document, not a rundown of current affairs. But that second edition-of which this is a replica-remains an important document for understanding the struggle of women in the early 20th century. Its survey of older history is still significant, exploring the surprisingly liberated state of women in ancient Roman, the inferiority of women under Christian doctrine, and the condition of women’s person-hood in more recently English and American eras. As a record of a moment in the feminism, this is fascinating reading. |

A Slaveholder’s Daughter (Illustrated Edition) (Dodo Press) $13.82 Belle Kearney (1863-1939) was a Mississippi temperance reformer, suffragist, teacher, and legislator. Kearney was interested in education and she began teaching in the newly established public school system despite her father’s protest. Her interest in education and women’s roles in the New South made her accept being a superintendent in the Women’s Christian Temperance Union in 1889. She went all over the United States and Europe giving speeches, using these opportunities to advocate her ideas about the relations between races in the South. In 1903 she addressed the NAWSA convention, using the issue of black male political power to argue for the enfranchisement of white women. |

Does anyone have suggestions on how women carry a Bible study?
More or less, I am a college for women A Bible study and we will examine the different chapters in the book of John and I wonder how biblical studies are generally of lead. If spreadsheets or what are promising avenues for effective action, relax or meet other Christian women. ~ Thanks!
So you want to do a Bible study. It is a method to study the Word of God if it is not sure of his loan. Here is my experience with a group of women. Gossip. Are you strong enough to stop it when it arrives?
