This gift is good for a Hindu wedding …?

My friend has a traditional Hindu wedding in India, then return to an American "reception. I know money is a good gift, but I want to dress up a little. Today I found a very colorful, beautiful (and cheap!) Statue Ganesh I thought would be connected to an envelope w / a check on it … Do you think this would be an appropriate gift? The reason I ask is I am a Christian, not Hindu. if the only thing I can compare it to say if someone gave me a crucifix or an artistic statue of Jesus, he would be good for a Christian Marriage … and gives a statue of a Hindu god considered rare? or be able to display in your home? I have something to wrap other than just give money. I'm weird.

That's very kind of you. I always thought if someone was to give another impersonal money and nothing else. It always seemed that he had no time to think a special event your friend, so it would be a bit of money in an envelope and call it a day. But add a little side gift is very nice as a friend on his part and I congratulate you by this habit. As to your question really depends on how it is Hindu. If it is very pious, statue can make a great gift. Or, if you expect the statue on the screen are completed at home, you may want to remember what is generally placed around the house. If the potential adjustments to their environment, go ahead. I I'm not Hindu, so I do not know the correct behavior of donations. But I hope it helps. Good luck!
