The Good Divorce $14 “>It’s never too late to have a good divorce > Based on two decades of groundbreaking research, The Good Divorce presents the surprising finding that in more than fifty percent of divorces couples end their marriages, yet preserve their families. Dr. Ahrons shows couples how they can move beyond the confusing, even terrifying early stages of breakup and learn to deal with the transition from a nuclear to a “binuclear” family–one that spans two households and continues to meet the needs of children. > The Good Divorce makes an important contribution to the ongoing “family values” debate by dispelling the myth that divorce inevitability leaves emotionally troubles children in its wake. It is a powerful tonic for the millions of divorcing and long-divorces parents who are tired of hearing only the damage reports. It will make us change the way we think about divorce and the way we divorce, reconfirming our commitment to children and families.” |

Divorce And Remarriage $17.99 “Does God forgive every human failure? Except divorce? Is divorce a failure God’s grace can cover? In this book, a serious scholar with extensive experience in ministry looks at these questions. He offers a redemptive theology that affirms the importance of marriage, the urgency of helping people survive their marital crises, and the redemptive mercies of God for those who have divorced and remarried. The book surveys Old Testament and New Testament passages about divorce, and answers common questions about divorce and remarriage today. It includes many true stories/case studies, as well as a pastoral letter “To Divorced Persons” and a letter “To Church Leaders.” A hopeful, encouraging, and gospel-based study for all Christians dealing with divorce or ministering to divorced persons.” |

Divorce And Remarriage In The Bible $26 “To many, the New Testament’s teaching on divorce and remarriage seems both impractical and unfair. The “plain” meaning of the texts allows for divorce only in cases of adultery or desertion, and it does not permit remarriage until the death of one’s former spouse. But are these proscriptions the final word for Christians? Are we reading them correctly today? This new book shows that looking at the biblical texts on divorce and remarriage in light of the first-century Jewish and Graeco-Roman world reveals that the original audience of the New Testament heard these teachings differently. Through a careful exploration of the background literature of the Old Testament, the ancient Near East, and especially ancient Judaism, David Instone-Brewer constructs a biblical picture of divorce and remarriage that is wider in scope and directly relevant to modern relationships.Enhanced with pastoral advice on how to apply the biblical teaching in today’s context, this volume will be a valuable resource for anyone seeking serious answers about married life.” |
