Discipleship Of The Mind $15 “Christians who are serious about their faith want to love God with all that they are-heart and mind and strength. Books abound on the devotional life, on commitment, on evangelism and practical Christian lining, but few take up what it means to love God with our minds. How do we learn to honor God in the ways we think? James Sire blazes a trail for Christians concerned about the discipleship of our minds. After looking at the atitudes toward God and ourselves necessary for the journey, he introduces us to the basics of the Christian world view. Separate chapaters discuss the foundations of knowledge and the relationship between knowing and doing. With an eye to the practical, Sire offers specific suggestions on getting to know what is good and getting to know the world. He also provides valuable insights on how Christians might approach various academic disciplines as disciples of Christ.” |

1-2-1 Discipleship $9.99 “”Lack of depth and maturity in the worldwide church is a major problem. Very few Christians really know their Bibles well and can apply the Word to their daily lives. Few really live as salt and light in a dark world. Most make little impact for the Kingdom or know how to share their faith simply and in such a way that people want to listen. Sadly many are not even aware their Christian lives could be any different and so they live frustrated. Could it be that we have failed to follow what Jesus commanded? His very last command before he returned to heaven was very simple Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and Spirit and teaching them all Ive commanded you. And surely I am with you even to the end of the age (Matthew 281820). A persons last words before they die or leave should be important and Jesus certainly wasnt going to waste the opportunity when his disciples were listening so intently Make disciples Jesus knew that if his disciples did that, then all else that might be necessary would follow on. If we get the discipling part right then the church will grow and the church can become wide AND deep, giving life and refreshment instead of only disappointment and frustration. This book aims to explain what discipleship is and give practical guidelines for discipling others. I feel compelled to write it because few seem to have been discipled themselves and good books on the topic seem surprisingly scarce. I was one of those who had to learn everything by trial and error. This book is the kind that I was looking for but didnt find. I hope this might ensure your way is a little easier. How do I strengthen my faith in God?
I have been Christian all my life, and as I enter my teens, I find myself wanting to develop a stronger bond with Him. I attend church regularly, but while singspiration and messages help me see Him in a new light, the programs I take are boring and don’t delve deeply enough. I have tried devotions on and off but have never found a devos book for my age set I can relate to, and I don’t know how to find meaning in the Bible without some sort of plan. I do try to pray every day, as I believe and know God answers prayer. I am also working for two weeks this summer as a counselor at the Bible camp I grew up in, and was part of a small girls’ discipleship group at church for three years (which unfortunately ended last year). I just came back from a two-day church retreat last weekend, and I really valued the bonding with other Christians. Are there any suggestions to help me enhance my spiritual life? Thank you in advance and God Bless your weekend.
I agree that reading your Bible is the best way to strengthen your faith. Try reading the Message- very easy to understand and leaves you wanting more. Something I have found helpful is not to set outrageous goals for yourself in reading. Don’t start out trying to read so many chapters or pages. Instead tell yourself that you are going to sit and read atleast one sentence. Honestly, it works. Then, if you want to continue go ahead. God speaks to you through his word… hence, the LIVING word. Whatever you are looking for from God can come to you directly out of the Bible. And there is always something new to learn, even for the oldest of Christians.
