Rock-A-Doodle [VHS] $9.98 Don Bluth’s lavish animated musical Rock-A-Doodle was not a success when it was released in 1992. In the live-action prologue, a little boy named Edmond learns that the crowing of Chanticleer the rooster did not make the sun rise, as everyone thought. But when a flood threatens his family’s farm, Edmo… |

Praying the Movies $20 “This book is a collection of 31 devotionals — one a day for a month — that seek to connect movies with the spiritual life of moviegoers. Each devotional contains passages from Scripture, an introduction to a scene from a popular film, a description of that scene, a meditation on the themes in the scene and Scripture, questions to encourage further reflection on the part of the reader, a suggestion for a hymn, and a brief prayer. This book can be used by an individual or in group study.” |

Finding Faith at the Movies $13 “Using movies to explore faith and spirituality issues is in vogue today, but it’s difficult to find the time to show and discuss a full-length film in most adult or youth classes or groups. Barbara Mraz, a deacon in the Episcopal Church and a high school teacher, found a solution. This practical, hands-on book will help Christian educators, youth leaders, and anyone wishing to use films as teaching tools to explore and discuss a film within the usual 40-50 minutes available. Mraz provides an introduction, related Scripture passages, carefully selected film segments (with VCR counter numbers and DVD settings), and thought-provoking discussion questions for twelve movies that explore topics such as temptation, duty, forgiveness, redemption, gratitude, and other important Christian values. This proven technique–one Mraz has been using for years–requires a minimum of preparation and generates the maximum in participation. Industry film ratings are provided so leaders can pick appropriate films.” |

Come Ye Children: A Book for Parents and Teachers on the Christian Training of Children $8.99 “A thankless task or a waste of time. Two ways people use to describe the Christian training of children. You dont have to feel that way In this book you will find encouragement, practical help and Biblical principles. King David is used as an example to follow David said Come ye children, harken unto me I will teach you the fear of the Lord Spurgeon says You are not ashamed to tread in the footsteps of David, are you? Thus Spurgeon encourages the reader to imitate our Biblical fathers. You will also go away with a new vision of the importance of the work in which you are involved. C. H. Spurgeon shows us that telling young people about Jesus is the most important task given to anyone, be they parent, teacher or youth leader.” |

The Catholic Crusade Against the Movies, 1940-1975 $44 “For more than three decades the Catholic Church through its Legion of Decency controlled the content of Hollywood films. Studios submitted their films to the Legion for a rating, which varied from general approval to condemnation. Documenting the inner workings of the Legion, The Catholic Crusade Against the Movies examines how the Church acquired such control and how the changes in the movie industry and American society at large in the post-World War II era eventually conspired against that institution’s power and led to its demise.” |

Christotainment $29.99 For more than two thousand years Christian expansion and proselytizing was couched in terms of ”defending the faith.” Until recently in the United States, much of that defense came in the form of reactions against the ”liberal” influences channeled through big-corporate media such as popular music, Hollywood movies, and network and cable television. But the election of Ronald Reagan as a Hollywood President introduced Christian America to the tools of advertising and multimedia appeals to children and youth to win new believers to God’s armies. Christotainment examines how Christian fundamentalism has realigned its armies to combat threats against it by employing the forces it once considered its chief enemies: the entertainment media, including movies, television, music, cartoons, theme parks, video games, and books. Invited contributors discuss the critical theoretical frameworks of top-selling devices within Christian pop culture and the appeal to masses of American souls through the blessed marriage of corporatism and the quest for pleasure. |

Creation and Creativity: From Genesis to $29.99 The idea of creation and creativity is among the most powerful and pervasive of metaphors bequeathed to the modern world by the scriptures of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Twelve specialists here explore the original sources and contemporary manifestations of the theme in both high and low culture, from the Book of Genesis to James Joyce’s Ulysses, Children of Gebalawi by the Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz, and the Polish poetry of Wislawa Szymborska, and to popular films, such as Bruce Almighty and Animatrix, and animation films for children. Even current debates on genetics and ecology and the public exhibition of plastinated human bodies invoke these same themes, and make this volume a topical contribution to cultural studies today.Jonneke Bekkenkamp, Why on Earth? Excerpt: Jean Hersholt (12 July 1886 2 June 1956) was a Danish actor who lived in the United States where he was a leading film and radio talent, best known for his 17 years starring on radio in Dr. Christian and for playing Shirley Temple’s grandfather in Heidi. Asked how to pronounce his name, he told The Literary Digest, “In English, her’sholt; in Danish, hairs’hult.” Of his total credits, 75 were silent films and 65 were sound films. He appeared in 140 films and directed four. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark to a well-known Danish stage family, Hersholt toured Europe performing with his family when he was young. He then graduated from the Copenhagen Art School. His first two films were made in Germany in 1906. He emigrated to the US in 1913, and the remainder of his movies were made in America. Hersholt’s best remembered film roles included Marcus Schouler in Erich von Stroheim’s 1924 in Greed and Shirley Temple’s beloved grandfather in the 1937 film version of the 1880 children’s book, Heidi, written by Swiss author Johanna Spyri. During his long career in the movies, his roles ran the gamut from early silent villains to secondary parts in which his mild Danish accent and pleasant voice suited him to depict a succession of benevolent fathers, doctors, professors and European noblemen. Hersholt’s last role was in the 1955 movie Run for Cover. In the trailer for the film “Grand Hotel”. Millennialism from the Hebrew Bible to the Present $9 The concept of millennialism—of a looming End of Days that will usher in salvation and a new world—is prevalent in Jewish history and culture and also serves as a cornerstone for a number of Christian faiths. Millennialism has also sprung up among certain disenfranchised, marginalized, or conquered peoples at different times and places throughout history. From the coming of the Jewish Messiah to the 1890 Native American Ghost Dance to modern Cargo Cults of the Pacific Islands to recent prophecies concerning the dawn of the third millennium, people have anticipated, feared, and built their lives around a transformation of their world marked by a significant calendar moment or momentous event. The twelve contributors to this volume examine the concept of the End of Days in Judaic history and culture as well as other important manifestations in the past and present. Topics include the dynamics and process of millennialism; the role of children in millennial religions; the enduring messianic significance of Jerusalem; the influence of ancient Judaic millennialism on current sensibilities; a comparison of the roots and meanings of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian calendars; the roots of the Christian antichrist in Jewish traditions of evil; differing rabbinical interpretations of the End of Days; the impact of millennialism on the Franciscan mission to New Spain; millennialism as a process of cultural mourning and rebirth; the appropriation and reinterpretation of the Book of Revelation by new religious movements; the significance and influence of apocalyptic movies; and the emergence of millennialism in popular culture in such television shows as The X-Files. |

Are my children being BRAINWASHED?
Hey yall, I strongly suspect that my children have been BRAINWASHED by SATIN. You see, I have tried to raise them as good WARRIORS OF THE TRUTH, by for example not letting them read THE BIBLE OF SATIN AND HIS BRIDES THE WITCHES, aka HAIRY POTTER. And by only letting them watch movies which Focus on the Family has approved in advance. But yesterday, SATIN himself got a hold of them. They were playing with EVIL, NON-CHRISTIAN children and were reading a COMIC BOOK. The sodomic literature of SATIN, next to PORN and HAIRY POTTER. I burned the TRACT OF SATIN and SPANKED the DEMONS out of each child, but Im worried now that the MASTER OF DARKNESS has already implanted an EVIL COMPUTER in their brains. What should I do?
Well I am a Christian, I learned of GOD’s grace and goodness bye first expieriencing the world. I was 19 and the only other real Christians in my life were my aunt and her brother my uncle. I accepted Christ on my own. It’s up to your children to make that choice one day also. You don’t have to shield them from the world. I won’t lie, I’ve saw every Harry Potter movie made and I’m waiting for the next one. GOD knows I can careless about witchcraft or wizards. I know what I believe so I say let them live and experience the world. Let them decide, of course when they’re old enough that is.
