But when a flood threatens his family’s farm, Edmo… |

100 God-Blogs $14.55 100 GOD-BLOGSThe heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. (Psalm 19:1) If we look carefully, we can see illustrations of Biblical truth in the world around us. That is the idea behind these GOD-BLOGS. They are a collection of devotional thoughts originally written in weekly installments to a list of subscribers. Some are humorous; some are sad; some are challenging; and some are comforting. All of them are taken from some part of the author’s life. He hopes they will help the readers spot glimpses of God’s truth in their daily lives, too. A lengthy topic (keyword) index is in the back of the book to help readers find specific topics of interest, which is especially helpful for preachers and Bible teachers.Phil Walter wants to be an agent of God’s peace, a messenger of God’s truth, and a servant of God’s love. During his 43 years of service to Christ and the church, he has strived to fulfill that calling by serving as an ordained minister/pastor, an ordained missionary, an ordained church elder, a field chaplain for the local sheriff’s office, a church administrator, the producer of a city-wide Christian theatrical outreach event, an administrative director for a national ministry, and a youth minister. In all his work, he has a heart for people. This was one of the reasons he wrote this book. He wants to help people walk with God each day.By God’s grace, Phil is the proud father of five wonderful children and the grandfather of nine amazing grandchildren. He has been married to his lovely wife, Susan, for 42 years and they live in Winter Garden, Florida. |

Casale Monferrato, the ancient Bodincomagus, is a city in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont (Italy), on the River Po, and has been a stronghold since the time of the Lombards. Liutprand, King of the Lombards enlarged it, and Emperor Otto II made it the chief town of a marquisate, giving it to the sons of Aleran, Duke of Saxony; later it was inherited by Emperor Michael VIII, Palaeologus, who sent thither his son Theodore. In 1533, the dynasty of the Palaeologi being extinct, Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor gave it to the House of Gonzaga. 1609 in Europe: Expulsion of the Moriscos, Basque Witch Trials, Twelve Years’ Truce $14.14 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: On April 9, 1609, King Philip III of Spain decreed the expulsion of the Moriscos. The Moriscos were the descendants of the Muslim population that converted to Christianity under threat of exile from Ferdinand and Isabella in 1502. From 1609 through 1614, the Spanish government systematically forced Moriscos to leave the kingdom for Muslim North Africa. They were only allowed to keep what money and possessions they could carry; the rest, including their property, was impounded. The expulsion especially affected the former Kingdom of Valencia and Kingdom of Aragon, harming their economies for generations. Suspicions and tensions between the Moriscos and the Christians had been high for some time. While some Moriscos did hold influence and power, and they had some allies such as the nobility of Valencia and Aragon who depended on them as a cheap labor force, their overall political and economic heft in Spain was low. The Christian population constantly suspected the Moriscos of not being sincere in their Christianity. As the Moriscos had been forced to choose between conversion and exile, many indeed held little loyalty to either the crown or the church. Several revolts broke out, the most notable being the 15681573 revolt against an edict of Phillip II’s banning Arabic, Arabic names, and requiring Moriscos to give up their children to be educated by priests. After the suppression of the revolt, Philip ordered the dispersal of the Moriscos of Granada to other areas. Philip expected that this would break down the Morisco community and facilitate their assimilation into the Christian population. This may have happened to a degree to Granada’s Moriscos, but not in Valencia or Aragon, where genuine crypto-Muslim enclaves still existed. At around t… More: |

Excerpt: Reading Blue Coat School, Sonning-on-Thames Reading Blue Coat School is a boys’ independent school (and co-educational in the 6th form) in Holme Park in the village of Sonning , in the English county of Berkshire . It is situated beside the River Thames, and was established in 1646 by Richard Aldworth, who named it “Aldworth’s Hospital”.History Established in 1646 at the height of the English Civil War , a wealthy London merchant, Richard Aldworth of Stanlake Park , left the Corporation of Reading the sum of £4,000, the proceeds of which were to be devoted to “the education and upbringing of twenty poor male children, being the children of honest, religious poor men in the town of Reading.” From this bequest, which in 17th century terms was quite substantial, originated the Aldworth’s Hospital charity school now better known as the Reading Blue Coat School.Aldworth, who had been a governor of Christ’s Hospital in London, modelled the new foundation on his former school, the boys being required to wear the Bluecoat attire of gown, yellow stockings, and buckled shoes. Aldworth s Will further stipulated that the Master of the new school should be “an honest, Godly and learned man” who for his “paines” would receive a stipend of £30 a year. His duties were to include the instruction of reading, writing and ciphering and to “teach the Catechism in the points of Christian Religion.”The Talbot The School was originally accommodated in an old building situated at the corner of Silver Street and London Street known as ‘The Talbot’ in one of the oldest parts |
Christian Books For Children

Do you think Harry Potter books are suitable for Christian Children?
I see no problem with them, provided that the child is old enough to understand the difference between fantasy and reality. I think it is great that children are reading and vocabulary and imagination. But I know many Christian families that these books are bad for their children and want to know what some of you think.
Depends each family to decide what is appropriate. However, I believe that censorship so good, and well known, the reading is doomed to failure. Children can read the time and I wonder why it was so important and what was his problem. What else is it you say is false. Child Protection excess can cause serious damage to the credibility of parents, especially as the child grows. I do recommend it.
