“In The Name of Education is perhaps the rarest book any will ever read on what is happening in education today. It maybe the best book that convincingly examines the crisis in education from a Christian perspective. Praises for In the Name of Education: What Jonas E. Alexis is saying needs to be said; and what he is saying must be heard Dr. Thomas Simmons, social studies teacher In the Name of Education is not only worth reading, it is worth believing, worth heeding, and most important, worth acting upon. Dr. David A. Noebel, best-selling author of Understanding the Times I have been privileged to read this outstanding book. The documentation and insights are superb. I will certainly recommend it to others. Texe Marrs, best-selling author of more than 35 books I am much impressed with the range of Alexis thought and the extent of his reading. This book is obviously about much more than education Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr, MD, forensic psychiatrist and author of The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness. This is an interesting and at the same time disturbing book that deals with] disturbing issues that are penetrating our public school system. Armstrong Williams, Radio Host In The Name of Education takes its readers on an in-depth investigation of our public education system and proves it to be the battlefield of a culture war. Finn Laursen, Executive Director of Christian educators Alexis has written an important book. Don DeYoung, Ph.D. in physics and chairman of the Department of Physical Science at Grace College, Indiana In the Name of Education documents the weird and dangerous ideas that have put generations of Americans at risk, even as it points the way backtoward genuine intellectual and moral reform. “>As a pastor, Michael Allen realized there was a real need for Bible study material directed toward the maturing Christian. There is a wealth of information dealing with salvation and the first baby steps a newborn Christian takes. Yet, there seems to be a drought of material aimed at those who are attempting to walk in the deeper things of God. This book is for those who truly hunger for a more extensive knowledge of the most high. Do you genuinely want to draw closer to God? Do you want to know him personally and intensely? Then this book is for you. >As the world plummets deeper and deeper into the concept of self as the center of all living, this book is an insightful look into the heart of God. If you wholeheartedly desire a greater intimacy with God, this book will provide insights into his character. Do you dare to see God for who he is? Then read this book and immerse yourself in the knowledge of his amazing power, love, and grace.”

During a cold Montana Christmas, Alan cuts down and decorates a Christmas tree for himself and his dying grandfather, George. As his present, Alan may choose one of eight keepsakes of his grandfathers. Yet before he can choose, he must read a story George wrote about each keepsake. Through these stories, Alan learns the secrets of his grandfather’s life. From the Publisher During a cold Montana Christmas Alan cuts down and decorates a Christmas tree for himself and his dying grandfather, George. However, they have no gifts. George opens a safe containing eight keepsakes: a baseball, a bronzed baby shoe, a key chain, a marathon finisher’s certificate, a necklace, a Santa Claus suit, a rifle, and a stack of $100 dollar bills. Alan may choose one of the objects for his gift, but there’s a catch. Each day he must read a story his grandfather has written about each keepsake before making his choice. Through these stories, Alan learns the secrets of his grandfather’s life — his shame, his triumphs, his love for God, and the reason behind a family breach. From Publishers Weekly Debut novelist Maki (a pastor who has co-written three previous nonfiction books on the Vietnam experiences of a Navy SEAL) explores the age-old theme of forgiveness in this simple–and sometimes simplistic–tale of death and discovery. Although the author and main character share the same name, which is initially confusing, the book is a novel and not an autobiographical account. The Christian-themed plot finds college-aged Alan Maki arriving in Montana to stay with his dying grandfather over Christmas vacation. Alan has not seen his estranged grandfather in 10 years, so he feels both apprehensive and excited, hoping to learn more about the fateful choices made by his father and grandfather. As Alan decorates the Christmas tree, his grandfather George directs him to place eight items under the tree, from which Alan may choose one after readin

 Infant Baptism Tested

Infant Baptism Tested

$13.12

This book will not appeal to every Christian. It is, after all, a polemical work, designed to explore infant baptism and expose it as destructive of the gospel. And it raises important questions: What is a Christian? How does one become a Christian? What is a church? How does one become a member? And, above all, what of the eternal consequences of baby-sprinkling in the name of Christ? Some believers don’t like controversy, full stop. So they won’t like this book. Some will deplore its appearance, thinking it divisive in an age of ‘togetherness’. Others will consider it a sterile work, opening old wounds, fighting worn-out battles of an age long since gone.David Gay disagrees. The issue is not dead. Sacramentalism is on the rise in Reformed circles, and elsewhere. Calvin’s (and Augustine’s) views on infant baptism (and the Lord’s supper) are increasingly being turned to. Attitudes to children, and ways of treating them spiritually, are being radically changed on such a basis. And Gay, deploring this, wishes to warn those who are thinking of adopting the Reformer’s teaching on infant baptism. Some Baptists, who rightly take the Reformed view of salvation, beguiled by the names of the ‘big guns’ who baptise infants, are attracted by the seeming logic of ‘covenant theology’. ‘Look before you leap’, is Gay’s theme. To help such readers take a good look before they leap, and to challenge those who already baptise infants, he has produced this book – which does what it says in the title: Infant Baptism Tested. So, reader, if you think it right to contend earnestly for the faith, and if, with an open Bible, you are prepared to examine infantbaptism, and willing to test its practice, and thus come to an informed decision about it, this book is for you. If, after reading it, you don’t agree with the author, at least you will have thought it all out. But you never know – you might find the seeming heavy-weight arguments put

Little Chick Learns to Trust in the Lord

$23.65

My name is Tom B. Kuhn. I am the youngest of four brothers. My oldest brother was called home in 2004 after a short battle with cancer. His wife was called home in 2006 after battling cancer for eleven years. My brothers and I were raised in a loving, Christian environment. When I was a baby my oldest brother gave me the nickname Little Chick because I had big lips, which made me look like a little chick. I wrote this children’s book story with my nephew in mind. I used the feelings and emotions that anyone might go through while standing by, as a loved one battles a life-threatening illness such as cancer. Christians go through tough times and become angry with God, which is a very normal emotion to have, as we build a personal relationship with our creator. I reference scripture throughout the story to aid in understanding the tough situations a child or even an adult may be going through while a loved one is suffering. I hope you enjoy this story. God bless.

She was born in South Hackney, London, England, the seventh of eight children born to William Booth and Catherine Mumford, who had earlier in the year founded The Christian Mission, which became the Salvation Army in 1878. Catherine Booth had recently read Uncle Tom’s Cabin and wanted to name her baby ‘Eva’, but William Booth did not like the name and wrote ‘Evelyne’ on the birth certificate. Years later, while in the United States, Evelyne would be persuaded by Frances Willard, founder of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, to adopt the name ‘Evangeline’ as being more dignified and more befitting the commander of The Salvation Army in America. At 15 she was a sergeant selling the Army’s paper The War Cry in the slums of east London. In 1887, at 21 years of age, she became the officer of the corps in Marylebone, where there was very strong opposition to The Salvation Army. Wherever trouble threatened, General Booths solution was invariably the same, ‘Send Eva!’. She was appointed as Field Commissioner throughout Great Britain from 1888 to 1891, courageously facing riotous crowds. From 1891 until 1896 she was in charge of Officer Training. When in 1896 an American break-away group led by her brother Ballington Booth and his wife Maud Ballington Booth attempted to tempt American Salvationists away from The Salvation Army and into a rival group called Volunteers of America, General Booth sent Evangeline to New York. He is credited with the founding of four monasteries in the Middle and Upper Volga regions of Russia. The story of Saint Macarius is based on Chetyi-Minei (the standard Russian Orthodox Lives of the Saints) as well as to other old manuscripts. One of them, kept in Makaryev Unzhensky Monastery, was first inventoried in 1835. The other is kept in Makaryev Zheltovodsky Convent, and is written in the 17th century hand. Church scholars believe that the Saint was most likely born in 1349. His home town, Nizhny Novgorod, was the capital of the Principality of Suzdal and Nizhny Novgorod, ruled by Prince Constantine Vasilyevich. As most other Russian principalities of the time, his land was dominated by the Golden Horde overlords. The future Saint was baptised in his parents’ parish church, Church of Holy Myrrhbearers (Russian: ). It is not known what was the future Saint’s baptismal name. According to the Life of St. Macarius, when the Saint was still a baby, he would start crying every time he heard the ringing of the bells of the nearby church. There was no way to console the child. The parents would not want to bring the baby boy to the church, afraid that he would disturb the service with his crying; but eventually they decided to try. And, to their surprise, as soon as they brought the child to the church, he became quiet, smiling joyfully. All children should be blessed with the glorious gift of a beautiful Christian name. For any Christian child, it is imperative. What could compare to the blessing of a friend in heaven to pray for a child”s soul throughout his or her earthly life? The Complete Christian Baby Name Book was compiled lovingly over the course of several years by a Catholic mother who always hoped to find one complete list of Christian baby names. She took all known sources of Catholic names from The Roman Martyrology, Rev. Dunne”s work, Is It a Saint”s Name?
