You wonder what a biblical response would be. At the same time, someone you care about deeply may be awaiting your response. What should you say? “Over the past decade, conservative Christian public law firms have been some of the most active and aggressive litigators in the nation. Their efforts have impacted important policy areas including religion in the Public Square, school prayer, gay rights, ‘family values’ and abortion policy. But the Fundamentalist Christian/Evangelical social movement is not monolithic. In this probing and judicious work, Hacker explores and clarifies the influence of ideology on the goals and behavior of three leading conservative Christian law firms and how they differ in agendas and approach. He provides rich interview narratives that shed light on interest group behavior and how it is influenced by internal group characteristics.”

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None is a philosophical novel by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, composed in four parts between 1883 and 1885. The book chronicles the fictitious travels and pedagogy of Zarathustra, usually known in English as Zoroaster, the Persian prophet and founder of Zoroastrianism. Nietzsche is clearly portraying a “new” or “different” Zarathustra, one who turns traditional morality on its head. Much of the work deals with ideas such as the “eternal recurrence of the same”, the parable on the “death of God”, and the “prophecy” of the Overman, which were first introduced in The Gay Science. Described by Nietzsche himself as “the deepest ever written,” the book is a dense and esoteric treatise on philosophy and morality, featuring as protagonist a fictionalized Zarathustra. A central irony of the text is that Nietzsche mimics the style of the Bible in order to present ideas which fundamentally oppose Christian and Jewish morality and tradition.

A Friendly Letter to Skeptics and Atheists: Musings on Why God Is Good and Faith Isn't Evil

A Friendly Letter to Skeptics and Atheists: Musings on Why God Is Good and Faith Isn’t Evil

$2.28

A Friendly Letter to Skeptics and AtheistsIn response to recent atheist manifestos declaring that religion is “dangerous,” social psychologist David G. Myers transcends the skeptic/believer divide by suggesting how faith can be reasonable, science-affirming, and humane. As a respected behavioral scientist and a person of faith, Myers shows how an educated and engaged faith is associated with happiness, health, tolerance, generosity, and volunteerism, and does not imply gay bashing, magical ideas about prayer, or a division of body and soul. A Friendly Letter to Skeptics and Atheists helps readers—both secular and religious—appreciate their common ground. For those whose thinking has moved from the religious thesis to the skeptical antithesis (or vice versa), Myers offers pointers to a science-respecting Christian synthesis. He shows how skeptics and people of faith can share a commitment to reason, evidence, and critical thinking, while also embracing a faith that supports human flourishing by making sense of the universe, giving meaning to life, connecting us in supportive communities, mandating altruism, and offering hope in the face of adversity and death.

A GAY EPIPHANY: HOW DARE YOU SPEAK FOR GOD?

A GAY EPIPHANY: HOW DARE YOU SPEAK FOR GOD?

$9.99

“A Gay Epiphany” is basically my autobiography, the autobiography of a “man of no importance”, but it is really much more than that. It covers a 55 year journey beginning with an innocent young child’s search for God, complicated by the conflicting dogmas and interpretations of institutional Christianity and coupled with growing up gay in the 1950′s and 60′s.The book covers the struggles of a young man who wants only to serve God, but who meets with nothing but religious hostility and condemnation from institutional Christianity due to his homosexuality. It addresses many areas of study including comparative religion, Eastern philosophy, New Age, The Christian Right, politics, The American Dream, fundamentalism, misinterpretation of religious texts, authenticity of the Bible itself and many other related topics quoting from specialists in those fields of study. It is an appeal to religious leaders, parents, educators and legislators to show more compassion towards gay men and women and grant them the full respect and equality to which they are entitled under a secular democracy. It is my gift to my gay brothers and sisters who may still be struggling with how to integrate their sexual identity with their spirituality. It is also intended as my gift to those in the heterosexual community who still may be struggling with which spiritual path, out of the hundreds that exist, would be most advantageous to their spiritual growth. One can either choose a path which believes that “the glass is half empty” or a path which believes that the “glass is half full.”

A Heritage of Faith shows the legacy of faith handed down through families. Many incidents in the lives of the author and her family are told as she and her husband served Southern Baptist churches, preaching and working to bring people to a saving relationship with Jesus. The book shows how God can come into a person’s life and change an entire family. It shows how God used a man to go to churches that were dying and help them to begin to love and grow again. It also outlines many of the methods he used as he pastored twelve Baptist churches in Missouri, Texas, and Florida to accomplish that purpose. Many of the people they met are showcased in these sometimes hilarious, sometimes poignant stories.Christian families are not immune to worldly influences, as is shown in the chapter that tells how the author and her husband learned that one of their sons is gay. Neither are Christian families immune to great sorrow, as is shown in the chapter about one of their daughters who experienced infertility for many years. A Heritage of Faith has stories of many hilarious things that happened in the author’s family and in their churches, as well as some serious decisions made by people they met along the way. The author shows how a world-wise man and a naive girl put their lives together and have served churches for fifty-five years.
