Why Christian Kids Rebel

Why Christian Kids Rebel

$14.99

“Author of Grace-Based Parenting and the best-selling Little House on the Freeway, Dr. Tim Kimmel helps Christian parents avoid the potential problems their well-meaning parenting styles could create. This book offers a new way to look at the “ideal” Christian home and shows why “cocoon-style” Christian homes don’t work. Many parents have “done it all” when it comes to the checklist of good Christian parenting, only to see their son or daughter step away from their belief system and embrace other lifestyle choices. Dr. Kimmel helps to increase the chances that your children will develop a vibrant faith early in life and stick with it on into adulthood. It will also provide help and hope for those already dealing with a rebellious teen and teach them how to lead the child back into a walk of faith.”

A Blessing Of Sunshine & Wrath

A Blessing Of Sunshine & Wrath

$12.79

“A Blessing of Sunshine” traces one woman’s journey virtually from childhood through adolescence and into adulthood. This true story touches upon diverse challenges of an abandoned infant that was adopted by a wonderful elderly couple. This couple had a very strict, stern religious belief. They also had raised a large group of children that had already left the nest. The empty nest put all the focus on Susan and the pressures of being the perfect Christian child. This rigid religious controlled childhood made it seem impossible to be happy, and left many questions not allowed to be answered, as children were to be seen and not heard! The stress and pressure was more than she could take. She was always afraid she would not be worthy of going to heaven or being in the rapture if Jesus returned to earth. Susan Gore was born in the United Sates, where she has spent her entire life. She was abandoned by her birth mother and adopted by an elderly couple that had already raised eight children and had grandchildren. Per her Adoptive mother’s wishes she married, graduated from high school, become a hair dresser, worked as a stylist for a few years, became a mother, and then changed careers to the business world. Still not fulfilled and after experiencing some unusual phenomena, she discovered the healing arts. In 2001 she attained a second degree certification in Reiki, the Usui System of Natural Healing. She began working with energy healing and experienced many healings of her own. Brought up in a strict protestant environment, later in life she discovered the Universe doesn’t look at the names of religions or rules at all, it’s what inside the mind, heartand spirit that matters.

A Land Beyond Ravens: Book 4 of the Macsen’s Treasure Series

$36.68

Mysterious dreams. A lost grail. Secret hoards of wealth. A country ruined by lies and betrayal. And one brief, shining chance to build a golden kingdom . . . No one in 5th century Britain knows more secrets than master spy Marcus ap Iorwerth, and that makes him a dangerous man. It also makes him a hunted one. For nearly three decades he has manipulated stubborn, irascible kings and warlords in a quest to not only unite them against foreign invasion but to stop them from destroying each other as well. And along with his beloved wife Claerwen, he has followed a greater, even more perilous pursuit-to forge a clear path for the fulfillment of Merlin the Enchanter’s famed prophecy that one day a great king will take command, the king known as Arthur of the Britons. Now, with Arthur at last on the brink of adulthood and already showing great promise as a leader, Marcus discovers that the emerging Christian church is gaining enough power to dangerously shift control of Britain. At the same time Claerwen, gifted with second sight, is plagued with strange dreams that connect inexplicable doom to both Arthur and a long lost grail sacred to Britain’s high kings. As foreboding mounts, Marcus struggles to prevent the church from crushing Arthur’s chances of becoming an effective king. But how he goes about it sets up the very doom that Claerwen sees. Will she be able to stop him? Or will her visions send Marcus to his own doom as well?A Land Beyond Ravens is a tale filled with haunting memories, honor, courage, and dreams lost and won. Interweaving the history of Dark Age Britain with its mystical Celtic roots and Arthurian legend, it is the compelling final chapterof the multi-award winning Macsen’s Treasure Series that includes Into the Path of Gods, In the Shadow of Dragons and The Anvil Stone.

 A Pilgrim People

A Pilgrim People

$5

As a people whose faith is formed and nourished by the Bible’s stories of creation and fall, salvation and redemption, Christians hunger to order their lives by the church’s story and their own. Our journey to God leads us through the cycle of the church year from Advent and Christmas to Easter and the season called “ordinary time” as we tell and retell God’s story and make it the story we live by. In A Pilgrim People John Westerhoff looks at the gospel texts season by season and relates their teachings not only to Christian life and ministry but to the life cycle of childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. In teaching the lessons of the church year, Westerhoff starts not with Advent but with Holy Week and Easter, which marks the birth of Christian faith and its vision of a dream come true. Commenting briefly on each of the gospel readings for each Sunday, he moves from Eastertide through Ascension and Pentecost, the season after Pentecost, Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, and Lent, offering useful themes for preaching and education. The final chapter incorporates a radical proposal for Christian education to reform the church’s organization, worship, education, and outreach.

 A Shepherd's Story

A Shepherd’s Story

$6

A Shepherds Story is a work of fiction based on the biblical record of the life of Jesus. The story, written in the first person, is narrated by an elderly shepherd whose life is heavily impacted by events that occurred during the years when Jesus walked the earth. It describes the joy of his early adulthood and the horror that follows as his firstborn is killed at the hands of a wicked king. His anger at God for allowing this to happen leaves him with a deep resentment and bitterness that clouds his later life. Driven by a need to find release from the prison of hatred that has enveloped him, he embarks on a pilgrimage to seek help from a prophet whose fame is spreading across the land. His ultimate victory comes when he discovers the power and love that resides in the person of Jesus, the Christ. He is driven, now, only to tell and retell his story to anyone who will listen. Short enough to be read in one sitting, A Shepherd’s Story makes an ideal friendship, sympathy or special-occasion greeting, as well as an excellent gift for such Christian holidays as Christmas or Easter. This book will offer inspiration, encouragement and hope to all who read it, especially to those who are undergoing severe life trials, or who have lost a loved one to death.

 Becoming Adult Becoming Christian

Becoming Adult Becoming Christian

$21.95

A Christian’s way of being in faith is profoundly influenced by his or her own personal development. Whether we know it or not, says James Fowler, we become adults in terms of some myth or image based on the life story that for us, defines what it means to be a complete human being. Questions of destiny and calling lie at the heart of our unfolding stories in adulthood, he says. Christians seek to align their lives and their work with the will of God. At the same time, they want to fulfill the potential of their destiny. How does one reconcile these longings?Fowler examines several influential theories of adult development and investigates biblical and Christian perspectives on covenant and vocation. Bringing these investigations together in light of his own work on faith development, he proposes that becoming adult and becoming Christian involves an ongoing process of conversion from self-groundedness and the pursuit of one’s destiny toward receiving and claiming one’s life in vocation and partnership with God. Reclaiming covenant and vocation as ideals for responsible, mature, Christian selfhood, he shows how a dynamic understanding of vocation can both inform and transform our lives.

I have been writing poetry since I was around 12 years old and no one in my family knew until recently that it has always kept me sane, even then. I remember writing to escape from a dysfunctional atmosphere. Yes, God was keeping me safe even when I didn’t know it. What an awesome God he is! Writing was my way of escaping at a very young age.I began writing because I needed an avenue to express my feelings and it has certainly intensified since then. As I matured into adulthood, my writing became very spiritual and this happened before I became a born-again Christian. God was speaking to my spirit in my writings. I would sometimes say, “Wow! Where did that come from?” I look back on those writings and realize God was in the midst and all I can say over and over again is, “Thank you, Lord.”

 Confirmation

Confirmation

$25

Confirmation is one of the most widespread practices in the contemporary church, although much confusion exists about its relationship to faith: Is confirmation a rite of passage? Is it just one step on an unfolding journey of faith? Are new privileges granted and additional responsibilities required of confirmands? Christian educator Richard Robert Osmer addresses these questions as he examines the theological significance of confirmation. Osmer surveys early church practices of confirmation and offers a comprehensive discussion of the particularities of the Protestant experience of confirmation, including Presbyterian, Episcopal, Lutheran, and Methodist practices. He discovers a need for a renewed understanding of confirmation in today’s church. He proposes a two-step process of confirmation that would address the unique concerns and understandings of those involved at two distinct and significant developmental transitions: from youth to adolescence and from adolescence to adulthood.

Can i retract my baptism?

I was baptised as a child by my parents and as I have grown into adulthood I have become a strong atheist. I would like to know if there is any way to formally retract my baptism so that I am no longer officially cited as being a Christian.

I was baptized, too. And I’m an atheist now.

I don’t believe, so I don’t care that I was baptized. It’s not like a tattoo or something, that other people can see. I can’t imagine what possible difference it could make, so why bother? Unless everyone in your town goes to the same church and can see (somehow?) that you were baptized, there…?
