10 mentiras que los hombres creen / 10 Lies That Men Believe $10.99 10 mentiras que los hombres creen is a compassionate but confrontational look at the reasons why so many Christian men today are in serious crisis. The author, who has spent eight years confronting the abuse of women in more than twenty countries, believes men are failing in marriage, fatherhood, friendships and careers because of ten wrong mindsets inherited from culture. In order for men to rise above such problems as pride, insecurity, divorce, sexual immorality and emotional dysfunction, they must renounce the lies of culture and embrace the truth of God”s Word–which has the power to renew our minds (Romans 12:2). With gut-level honesty, the author offers practical answers for men who struggle with a variety of issues including addiction, abusive tendencies, pornography, controlling behavior, and emotional problems rooted in a lack of proper fathering. The book is also an excellent resource for women who are suffering because of mistreatment by the men in their lives. |

1453 in Europe: Fall of Constantinople, Battle of Gavere $14.13 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: The Fall of Constantinople was the capture of the capital of the Byzantine Empire which occurred after a siege laid by the Ottoman Empire, under the command of Sultan Mehmed II. The siege lasted from Friday, 6 April 1453 until Tuesday, 29 May 1453 (according to the Julian Calendar), when the city was conquered by the Ottomans. Constantinople was defended by the army of Emperor Constantine XI. The event marked the end of the political independence of the millennium-old Byzantine Empire, which was by then already fragmented into several Greek monarchies. Following his accession to the Ottoman throne, Mehmed had been applying pressure on Constantinople and the Byzantines by building forts along the Dardanelles. On 5 April, he laid siege to Constantinople with an army numbering 80,000 to 200,000 men. The city was defended by an army of 7,000 of whom 2,000 were foreigners. The siege began with heavy Ottoman artillery firing at the city’s walls while a smaller Ottoman force captured the rest of the Byzantine strongholds in the area. Ottoman attempts to blockade the city completely failed at first owing to the boom blocking the entrance to the Golden Horn thus allowing four Christian ships to enter the city. At the entrance to the Golden Horn, there was a large chain pulled across from Constantinople to the Tower of Galata on the northern side, preventing unwanted ships from entering. Mehmed was not able to enter his ships into the city, which is why he had his ships rolled into the Golden Horn on greased logs. Byzantine effort to destroy the ships with fire ships failed, allowing the Ottomans to seal the city off. The Turkish frontal assaults on the walls were all repulsed with heavy casualties and the Turkish attempts to undermine the walls were a… More: |

1492: Admiral of the Ocean-Sea $23.47 In the 15th century, a fabulous journey awaited those who could unlock the secrets of the Earth’s geography. Beautifully written and emotionally compelling, 1492: Admiral of the Ocean-Sea tells of the famous adventures of Columbus and his men, who sailed into the almost mythical seas beyond the horizon in search of the “New World”, in the hopes of attaining vast wealth and power. This brilliant book, by best-selling author Mary Johnston, traces the long route taken by explorers hoping to locate Asia. Based on their limited means and understanding of navigation, they struggle to find their position, while at the same time encountering many natural wonders and exotic peoples. Tensions build as they appear to become increasingly lost. Columbus and his crew begin to lose hope, until they finally receive the vindication of their bold vision. 1492: Admiral of the Ocean-Sea pays special attention to the conditions of the late 15th century period. It describes the competition between classes and ethnic groups in Spain, as well as the clashes that occurred when people from two very different cultures, native American and European, interact. These issues are not merely abstract, since we see them vividly through the eyes of a disenfranchised individual: a Christian sailor of Jewish background, who has been compelled to lead a secretive and solitary existence. The incidents of his life are brought to us in a handsome, elegant language, un-common in the books of our day. 1492: Admiral of the Ocean-Sea is a marvelous work that brings together history, drama, idealism and art. |

Excerpt: The 150s decade ran from January 1, 150, to December 31, 159.Events and trends Significant people A hyperlinked version of this chapter is at The First Apology was an early work of Christian apologetics addressed by Justin Martyr to the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius . It is dated to the period 150-155.Purpose for writing The purpose of the Apology is to prove to the emperors, renowned as upright and philosophical men, the importance of Christianity. Chapters i.-xii. give the preliminary negative proof; chap. xiii. begins a positive exposition of Christianity: that Christians are the true worshipers of God, the Creator of all things; they offer him the only sacrifices worthy of him, those of prayer and thanksgiving, and are taught by his Son, to whom they assign a place next in honor to him; this teaching leads them to perfect morality, as shown in their teacher’s words and their own lives, and founded on their belief in the resurrection.Dating of the text The Dialogue is a later work than the First Apology ; the date of composition of the latter, from the fact that it was addressed to Antoninus Pius , Marcus Aurelius , and Lucius Verus , must fall between 147 and 161. The reference to Felix as governor of Egypt, since this can only be the Lucius Munatius Felix whom the Oxyrhynchus papyri name as prefect September 13, 151, fixes the date still more exactly. The Chronicon of Eusebius gives 152-153 as the date of the attacks of Crescens . What is designated as the Second Apology was written as a supplement to the first, on account of certain proceedings which had in the mean time taken place in Rome before Lollius Urbicus as prefect of the city, which must have been between 150 and 157.Doctrine of the Logos The doctrine of the Logos begotten of flesh is specially emphasized. |

Excerpt: The Declaration of Sports (also known as the Book of Sports ) was a declaration of James I of England issued in 1617 listing the sports that were permitted on Sundays and other holy days . It was originally issued in consultation with Thomas Morton , bishop of Chester , to resolve a dispute in Lancashire between the Puritans and the gentry (many of whom were Roman Catholics ). The initial declaration was just for Lancashire , but in 1618, James made the declaration national. The 1618 declaration has largely the same main text as the 1617 version, but with an additional paragraph at the beginning explaining that the king has decided to make the declaration applicable to the whole of England. The declaration listed archery , dancing , “leaping, vaulting, or any other such harmless recreation” as permissible sports, together with “May-games, Whitsun-ales and Morris-dances , and the setting up of May-poles “. Also allowed: “women shall have leave to carry rushes to the church for the decorating of it, according to their old custom.”Amongst the activities that were prohibited were bear- and bull-baiting , “interludes ” and bowling .On the one hand, the declaration rebuked Puritans and other “precise persons”, and was issued to counteract the growing Puritan calls for strict abstinence on the Christian Sabbath (Sabbatarianism ). On the other, it condemned Catholics and others who did not attend church services in their parish , as the declaration specified that only people who had first attended divine service were entitled to participate in recreations afterward. The declaration was reissued by Charles I on 18 October 1633, as The King’s Majesty’s declaration to his subjects concerning lawful sports to be used . It was claimed by William Prynne that the new declaration was written |

Excerpt: Reading Blue Coat School, Sonning-on-Thames Reading Blue Coat School is a boys’ independent school (and co-educational in the 6th form) in Holme Park in the village of Sonning , in the English county of Berkshire . It is situated beside the River Thames, and was established in 1646 by Richard Aldworth, who named it “Aldworth’s Hospital”.History Established in 1646 at the height of the English Civil War , a wealthy London merchant, Richard Aldworth of Stanlake Park , left the Corporation of Reading the sum of £4,000, the proceeds of which were to be devoted to “the education and upbringing of twenty poor male children, being the children of honest, religious poor men in the town of Reading.” From this bequest, which in 17th century terms was quite substantial, originated the Aldworth’s Hospital charity school now better known as the Reading Blue Coat School.Aldworth, who had been a governor of Christ’s Hospital in London, modelled the new foundation on his former school, the boys being required to wear the Bluecoat attire of gown, yellow stockings, and buckled shoes. Aldworth s Will further stipulated that the Master of the new school should be “an honest, Godly and learned man” who for his “paines” would receive a stipend of £30 a year. His duties were to include the instruction of reading, writing and ciphering and to “teach the Catechism in the points of Christian Religion.”The Talbot The School was originally accommodated in an old building situated at the corner of Silver Street and London Street known as ‘The Talbot’ in one of the oldest parts |

Excerpt: Operation Auca was an attempt by five Evangelical Christian missionaries from the United States to make contact with the Huaorani people of the rainforest of Ecuador. The Huaorani, also known by the pejorative Aucas (a modification of awqa, the Quechua word for “enemies”), were an isolated tribe known for their violence, against both their own people and outsiders who entered their territory. With the intention of being the first Christians to evangelize the previously unreached Huaorani, the missionaries began making regular flights over Huaorani settlements in September 1955, dropping gifts. After several months of exchanging gifts, on January 3, 1956, the missionaries established a camp at “Palm Beach”, a sandbar along the Curaray River, a few miles from Huaorani settlements. Their efforts came to an end on January 8, 1956, when all fiveJim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderianwere attacked and speared by a group of Huaorani warriors. The news of their deaths was broadcast around the world, and Life magazine covered the event with a photo essay. The deaths of the men galvanized the missionary effort in the United States, sparking an outpouring of funding for evangelization efforts around the world. Their work is still frequently remembered in evangelical publications, and in 2006 was the subject of the film production End of the… More: |

Why the Greek Orthodox Bible contains 10 books, Bibles and more Catholics are not Christian?
So answer me?? I tried to find the Bible more completely and accurately known to man. And I'm curious to know why the Bible does not contain the books Greek Orthodox
The Bible comes from the Orthodox tradition of the Septuagint. The Protestant Bible has the Masoretic tradition. The tradition of the Septuagint is a translation in Greek in the use of Jews at the time of Christ – the original Hebrew was lost. Tradition is the oldest Masoretic tradition Hebrew, but much later than the Septuagint and not the 10 books that are in the Septuagint. It makes little sense for many people to use the tradition Masoretic for several reasons, including that they believed that Hebrew would be fairer because the Greek is translated from the original Hebrew. Catholic moved to the Masoretic tradition, but used the Septuagint version of the other books. Some doubted the authenticity of books Greek because Jews do not use them. A couple who also questionable (but for some books in the Masoretic tradition). Martin Luther bad thought of praying saints, among other things, and was the first to throw these books because they defended the prayer the Saints, etc. (put these books in a separate section of the Bible and called them "instead of good reading, but not divinely inspired). Also I would have thrown Other books such as Hebrews, Jacques and the Apocalypse if you could have absconded with it.
